Right of the box they are super comfortable! I foresee after a proper break in period, they will be lifelong boots. The laces are black and yellow though. So they will be very simple to customize. As mentioned in a different review, I too will be wearing them with my kilts. That is an even greater bonus because the entire boot will be shown off. Highly highly recommend!
I ordered my boots while in Canada and had them delivered to my wife’s cousin in Scotland.The boots were delivered in about 4 days. I wore the boots to the wedding with my kilt kit . I got rave reviews at the wedding.

Fast, professional service.Boots are lightweight, smart, functional and comfortable out of the box. They fit true to size, although it is not the widest of lasts so if you're between or plan to use really thick socks you may want to go up a size. Additionally, if, like me, you have "athletic" calves... you may need to purchase a leather punch and add a couple of extra holes on each strap... because as they come the straps are TIGHT. After a little modification, all's well.... In conclusion: Very pleased.
